My birthday was this past week and our boys had the day off of school for a teacher work day. We took the opportunity to explore Whidbey Island and it did not disappoint. The boys' favorite was Fort Casey with the old fort buildings built into the hillside and the beach. The weather was a perfect, mostly cloudy pacific northwest day. We got to walk across the Deception Pass bridge, share some pastries and explore Coupeville, walk around Fort Casey, see orcas through the telescopes in Langley, and ride the ferry back to the other side of the sound. Exploring the amazing places in our home state is really one of my favorite ways to spend a day.
